TGIF – Zoiks! Lionfish!

This extraordinary bit of footage shows quite the highest density of invasive lionfish I’ve ever seen.  I was talking to Luiz Rocha during the week and he tells me the footage was shot near Pensacola FL.  We agreed that neither of us had ever seen abundances like this in the natural range of lionfish.  We’re not sure if this is a mating event, but holy canoli, that’s a lot of lionfish.  Its incredible how they just sit there waiting to be speared…
