Land ho!

This evening we were treated to our first view of Antarctica and Antarctic wildlife:  Ridley Island (pictured) and a group of penguins swimming alongside the boat.  Ridley Island is a small blob of land north of King George Island—not technically the continent, but definitely more “Antarctic” than any land we’ve seen so far.

For more Antarctica discoveries check out these other LARISSA expedition blogs!
